CANADA’S EXTENSIVE NEW CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY ACT PASSED – TIME TO GET INTO GEAR
Authors: Wendy Reed & Catherine Bate, Heenan Blaikie

Bottom line:
The Canada Consumer Product Safety Act [CCPSA] has now been passed by the House of Commons and, at the date of writing, just awaits passage by the Senate and Royal Assent.   While we don’t yet know the exact date on which it will become law, we do know that when it does, it is likely to have a significant impact on all those who manufacture, import or sell – and may otherwise have reason to evaluate the safety of, or to recall – non-exempted consumer products in Canada.  more article
